CoolSculpting vs. Liposuction

What’s the difference between CoolSculpting and liposuction?

While both CoolSculpting and liposuction have similar objectives, there are a couple key differences between how we approach our treatment plan for each procedure.

Coolsculpting fat reduction vs. Liposuction fat reduction

Like CoolSculpting, liposuction is a permanent reduction of fat cells. The difference, however, is that liposuction is able to take out much more tissue overall. So if you’re a patient who is roughly 20 to 30 pounds over your ideal weight, you’d be a perfect candidate for liposuction.

On the other hand, CoolSculpting is a great option for patients who are closer to their ideal weight, but have excess body fat gathered in stubborn areas like the belly, under arms, thighs and more. Despite the smaller 20-25% reduction you get with CoolSculpting, patients are still able sculpt out these specific areas very efficiently with treatment.

No downtime vs. Instant results

If you can afford to have about a week of downtime, liposuction will essentially give you instant results. With a non-invasive solution like CoolSculpting, 1-3 months may pass before you see results but you’ll have no downtime whatsoever.
