Drainless Tummy Tuck Reviews

I had a drainless tummy tuck with 360 lipo. Dr. Butz and his staff are very kind and knowledgeable. Surgery went well. Recovery was as expected. Results are appearing more and more as time passes. There is not instant gratification due to swelling but I'm 4 months post-op and swelling continues to decrease - it just takes time. Thoughts on tummy tuck - have to be patient for swelling to go away - which sucks we all want instant results. 85% swelling gone at 4 months but love the extra skin being gone. Still numb from new belly button placement to incision but doesn't bother me. My incision has one tiny spot that has difficulty healing. Post-op experience - I stopped prescribed pain meds on day 2, ibuprofen worked fine. Coughing/sneezing really hurts where the subcutaneous fat and muscle are quilted together. Felt like I was ripping my insides. This gets better after a few weeks. Sometimes the muscle/skin feels tight when I stretch. The 360 lipo, have to wait for loose skin to tighten up. Still loose at 4 months. Sometimes I still have a burning/stretching sensation on my back/sides. Overall I am very happy with my results and recommend Dr. Butz to my friends and people I meet. Dr. Butz and his staff are very responsive for any questions or concerns. If I decide to have any more work done I will definitely go to Dr. Butz.

Frequently Asked Questions About Tummy Tuck Treatments

Liposuction is a great option for patients who have extra pockets of fat with good skin quality (no stretch marks, no loose skin) and no stretched muscle.

For patients with excess skin and loose abdominal muscles (rectus diastasis), a tummy tuck would be the procedure of choice. Liposuction can be combined with a tummy tuck to remove fat as well. However, liposuction alone will not address extra skin and stretched muscles.

Abdominoplasty or Tummy Tucks are one of the most common aesthetic surgeries performed. This is often addressing multiple areas of concern related to pregnancy related changes – skin laxity, diastasis recti (separation of the 6 pack muscles) and excess or unwanted fatty pockets/contours. The second most common reason for body contouring surgeries is related to weight loss.

We are frequently asked what the ideal weight is for surgery. Unfortunately, there’s no simple or right answer for every patient. We use BMI as a rough tool or calculation to determine if someone is in a relatively “safe” weight for surgery. BMI’s over 32 have a higher risk of wound healing issues and other anesthesia related risk. This is a rough cutoff we use but everyone carries weight differently and many patients with a BMI of 32-35 are still very safe and good candidates. If that is the weight they are happy at and can comfortably maintain after surgery it is likely a good weight to do surgery. But if they were able to lose weight and maintain it at a lower level they would likely be able to achieve a better surgical result.

Who is not a good candidate? – If you carry a lot of your weight inside your belly – we often call that visceral fat. This makes it very difficult to get your abdomen flat after surgery. Having a higher BMI puts you at higher risk for having more visceral fat. We can not surgically remove or alter visceral fat.

If you’re having medical issues related to your weight you should certainly try to lose weight to improve your health. Body contouring surgery is not intended to lower your weight but improve your contours.  Diabetes, hypertension and high cholesterol can all be improved with weight loss and would not only make you a better surgical candidate but also improve your overall health and well being.

Some people are very comfortable at a higher BMI but if that’s not you and you have a lower goal weight then you should try to achieve this before surgery. The best long term surgical results are achieved when you maintain a stable weight. Weight loss or gain will impact your results.
