BOTOX® Injections

Boost your confidence and regain a youthful appearance thanks to Botox injections from Quintessa Aesthetic Center, located in the greater Milwaukee and Madison, WI areas. Botox is a natural, purified protein approved by the FDA.   How long do Botox injections last?
  • In most patients, the effects from Botox wear off in about 3 months but the more times they have had treatments, the longer it typically lasts. Some of our patients at Quintessa can get Botox that lasts 6 months or more (but I would not expect this to happen with treatments in and around the mouth).
What is Botox used for cosmetically?
  • Botox injections are used to smooth wrinkled skin in areas such as the forehead, neck and around the eyes

Why Botox Injections

Botox is a great, natural way to smooth skin and rejuvenate your appearance without surgery.

The injections are safe for patients between 18 and 65 when prescribed and injected properly. Our double-board certified, Dr. Andrew Campbell, highly recommends having a licensed and trained medical professional administer your injections for best results.

Botox uses

Botox is commonly injected around the eyes, forehead and neck.

At Quintessa, we often use Botox injections to treat frown lines between the eyes and eyebrows, as well as crow’s feet around the eyes, forehead wrinkles, and thick bands in the neck.

Botox has also been successful in relieving migraine headaches, excessive sweating, and muscle spasms.

what to expect after botox injections

While Botox injections are likely to last between 3-4 months, and sometimes as long as 6 months in some individuals. We recommend follow-up treatments every 3 to 4 months in order to maintain your new look. Most patients can resume normal activities following treatment as long as the Botox is not pushed or directed outside the of the location where it was placed.

Common side effects from Botox injections include temporary redness, swelling and bruising while the substance diffuses into the muscle fibers.

For the absolute best results, you can combine Botox with other services Quintessa offers such as facial fillers and other skin resurfacing treatments.

Realself Q&A

Can Botox help with my under eye wrinkles?

Botox can help under eye wrinkles, but not in everyone. Basically, there are two reasons for under eye wrinkles, excess muscle activity, or excess/poor quality skin. The prior can be treated with Botox, the latter can not.

Can Botox around the jawline help lift my skin at the jawline?

Botox placed in the platysma muscle just below the jowl can theoretically relax this muscle and allow the jowl to lift a little. Treating the bands in the neck can also help soften them, but overall, the effect is rather subtle.

How many units of Botox are needed for the forehead?

Everyone's facial muscles are different. Therefore, everyone's Botox treatment should be different. Using 20 units in the 11 lines is pretty typical for the forehead location, especially if you don’t have any lines there yet and are looking to “low dose” the area just for prevention.
