Vaginal Rejuvenation

Vaginal rejuvenation with ThermiVa is an in-office procedure designed to enhance the vaginal area both externally and internally. This simple rejuvenation procedure is non-invasive and requires no anesthesia whatsoever, making it quick, painless and effective. How long does ThermiVa last?
  • The full effect will last approximately 1 year
Procedure time
  • For most patients, vaginal rejuvenation with ThermiVa only requires about 30 minutes in-office with no downtime at all

Why vaginal rejuvenation treatment?

Vaginal rejuvenation with ThermiVa is often the treatment of choice for patients who are unhappy with the external appearance of their vaginal area. Through non-surgical tightening, ThermiVa rejuvenates and restores confidence.

As the device passes a current through the skin, resistance creates heat, causing a therapeutic reaction necessary for rejuvenation. ThermiVa’s thermal effect causes coagulation and/or ablation of the skin, which triggers healing factors, increased blood flow and new collagen.

The Vaginal Rejuvenation Process

As a non-surgical and no-downtime procedure, vaginal rejuvenation with ThermiVa requires no anesthesia and can be performed at any of our Milwaukee and Madison area Quintessa locations in privacy. ThermiVa is a wand-like device that uses radiofrequency energy to treat the area and its surrounding tissues. The procedure itself takes roughly 30 minutes and is completely pain-free.

Our expert surgeon, Dr. Daniel Butz, will consult with you one-on-one and provide expert advice before undergoing treatment.

Recovering from vaginal rejuvenation

Following treatment, patients are able to return to their normal routine right away and results are typically seen within the first couple of days. Depending on the individual patient, follow-up maintenance treatments may be necessary after six months to a year.

vaginal rejuvenation ALternatives

During individual consultation, sometimes we find a patient might be a better fit for an alternative vaginal rejuvenation procedure. In most cases, that procedure is labiaplasty:

Labiaplasty can help reduce labia asymmetry and reduce discomfort caused by excessive rubbing of the extra labia tissue.

Realself Q&A

What is the difference between ThermiVa and MonaLisa Touch? How do you choose?

Vaginal rejuvenation's main goal is to tighten and restore the tissue to a more youthful tone and appearance. Labiaplasty is a great option for the external labia, but it cannot address the internal structures. There are a number of devices on the market that stimulate the tissue with heat. This creates tissue tightening and collagen formation, which leads to improved appearance, decreased laxity, decreased dryness and can improve urinary incontinence. ThermiVa, specifically, uses radiofrequency energy to stimulate and heat the tissue. The treatment is pain free and you can resume all activity immediately afterwards. There are 3 treatments spaced 4 weeks apart. ThermiVa can be used to treat the internal and external tissue. The MonaLisa Touch uses a CO2 laser to heat the tissue. This is a fractional and ablative laser. So there is some superficial healing that is required. This also requires 3 treatments spaced 4 weeks apart. The company recommends that you abstain from sexual intercourse for 5 days. MonaLisa Touch is only used on the internal canal. Always see an expert and ask lots of questions. Good luck.
