Dr. Daniel Butz of Quintessa on Breast Augmentation
Dr. Daniel Butz
One of the most common procedures I’ve performed is breast augmentation. Nationally, there’s 300,000 breast augmentations performed a year. Many women come in asking for more volume, improved kind of symmetry, trying to achieve more balanced kind of a figure, kind of match their body. So breast augmentation really allows us to do that in a very, you know, well tolerated procedure.
Most common types that we use are silicone implants. Saline implants are also an option, but not as commonly used and we’ll talk about that at a different time. And also you can use fat augmentation or fat transfer for more subtle enhancements of the breast.
Essentially, utilizing small incisions typically hidden in the fold. If you’re able to place the implant to provide a very natural appearance, depending on what your goals are. Now the procedure takes about an hour under general anesthesia. About three to five days of recovery. And then it takes a few weeks or months for the implants to kind of settle and soften into place. But afterwards, patients are very happy with the final outcomes. They’re able to wear clothing they want to wear. They kind of really have the more feminine figure that they’re looking for.
