What Can Dermapen Do for You?
Could tiny needles be the solution to your anti-aging concerns? If you are looking for a treatment that will help stimulate collagen production in your body, ease signs of aging or improve acne scars or stretch marks, Dermapen might be for you. The treatment is non-invasive and can be used in normally hard-to-treat places, such as near the eyes and lips.
What Is Dermapen?
Dermapen is a fractional micro-needling device shaped like a pen. Dermapen promotes new skin growth by stimulating or inducing the skin with a vertical stamping method.
The goal of the Dermapen is to trigger your body’s healing response, which allows it to produce growth factors and collagen. As the skin heals from the treatment, it becomes tighter and smoother. The device can also help your skin better absorb any lotions or creams you apply topically.
Micro-needling and Anti-Aging
Dermapen is generally used by patients who are just starting to have signs of aging on their faces. The device is better suited for easing fine lines or for smoothing uneven texture than it is for filling in deeper lines or wrinkles. In some cases, the device is used as a preventative treatment, to keep the skin firm and smooth longer.
Dermapen for Fade Scars or Stretch Marks
Another way Dermapen helps improve the appearance of your skin is by reducing the appearance of scars, including acne and surgical scars or stretch marks. The microneedles help break up any scar tissue so that new tissue grows. The medical or aesthetic profession performing the Dermapen treatment will adjust the surface area and depth of the treatment to achieve the best results.
What does microneedling feel like?
Treatment with the Dermapen is a relatively quick process. First, a numbing ointment will be applied to the treatment area. Many patients feel a slight massaging sensation during it, but little discomfort, due to the topical anesthetic.
Results may be visible after a single treatment, but it’s typically recommended that patients have between four and eight treatments to see the best results. After the initial series of treatments, it might be recommended that you return for a maintenance treatment every few months.
Dermapen aftercare
The downtime after treatment is pretty brief. It’s usual for the skin to feel tight, dry, and to be pink in color. The tight feeling usually fades in a few hours, with slight red or pinkness lasting 24-48 hours following the treatment.
It might be recommended for you to use special skincare products, at least for the first few days after the treatment. Since the skin will be sensitive, avoid any alpha-hydroxys or retinols harsh cleansers or alcohol-based astringents for three days, and refrain from sunscreen or makeup with any chemicals, preservatives, dyes, or fragrances for the first 12 hours after treatment. Mineral sunscreens, such as ColoreScience’sSunforgettables, are perfectly fine to use immediately after your Dermapen treatment.
