Reviews and Testimonials

Highly recommend Quintessa Spa and staff at Mequon location. I have been doing Cooltoning and had my first Coolsculpting sessions with Katelyn. She made me feel comfortable and at ease during the procedures. I am looking forward to the changes in my body over the next three months. Lisa is an artist and has a great eye for looking at your face and making positive recommendations for injectables and fillers. My face looks totally natural and I feel beautiful. Thank you!
-Kelly, Mequon

I found out about Quintessa when investigating Coolsculpting procedures. I wanted a center that was certified, had been doing the procedure for years, and that had a licensed plastic surgeon on staff. I was not planning on driving from the Madison area where I live, but could not find all three criteria here. I was very pleased with Jody, who spoke with me at length on the phone and asked lots of questions to prequalify me. I had all of my treatments over a 2 hour period on my day off, had no pain, no discomfort, and very little bruising on only one small area of my inner thigh. I am celebrating my 64th birthday in June, work out regularly with my husband, eat a clean diet and wear a fit band. Would go back!

How does CoolSculpting work?

When a new patient comes in for a CoolSculpting treatment, they’ll usually ask, “Does it hurt?” The short answer is no. Most patients describe a pulling or tugging feeling or a sensation of being very cold. It isn't painful and many patients feel comfortable enough to multitask during their appointments (check cell phone, read a book, etc.).

The fat-freezing aspect feels similar to having a very cold ice pack applied to the body. Once the CoolSculpting applicator is on the tissue, it will reach a temperature that is safe for the body, but cold enough to eliminate the fat cells. The process works because fat cells react differently to cold than other cells in the body, so nerves, skin, or other tissues are not affected.

Every person is born with a certain number of fat cells that grow until he or she reaches adolescence. After that, the fat cells are technically done growing. As you gain or lose weight, the fat cells just get larger or smaller. According to the National Institutes of Health, it is typical for body fat to increase steadily after age 30. In fact, as we age, we may end up with 30 percent more body fat than our younger selves. When we freeze these fat cells with CoolSculpting, the fat cells expire and cannot grow back, leaving you with permanent results.

How amazing is that?

The CoolSculpting procedure safely delivers precisely controlled cooling to gently and effectively target the fat cells underneath the skin. The frozen fat cells shrink and are naturally metabolized and eliminated by the body.  Every application to each patient’s area of concern will reduce the area 20% to 25%. That said, we typically recommend patients one to two treatments per area. We carry a large number of applicators for different areas on the body and treatments can range from 35 to 75 minutes each.

CoolSculpting works great on any patient who is self-conscious about his or her figure and still not seeing desired results no matter how many healthy lifestyle choices have been made.

There are many things to consider when choosing whether CoolSculpting is the best solution for reducing unwanted body fat. Here are a few questions to consider to help determine if fat-freezing is right for you:

About your Body:

  • Do you have excess fat gathered in specific areas of your body such as the middle section, thighs, butt-area and/or upper arms?
  • Have you struggled with unwanted fat for years no matter what you do?
  • Have you tried regular exercise to reduce fat and had disappointing results in your problem areas?

How you Feel:

  • Are you unhappy with or self-conscious about the way you look because of extra body fat?
  • Has body fat impacted your self-confidence?
  • Have you ever felt helpless about changing your body’s appearance?
  • Do you feel you are not an ideal fit for cosmetic procedures?

Your Behavior:

  • Do you choose loose clothing, even if it’s less flattering, so you can hide your shape?
  • Do you avoid activities that require you to wear tight and revealing clothing, such as a swimsuit?
  • Have you avoided investigating cosmetic procedures because you assume they are too expensive?

  • Are you afraid of surgery?
  • Are you concerned that a cosmetic procedure would be painful or have side-effects?

What Can I Expect?

There is little to no recovery time after a CoolSculpting, CoolToning and EMSculpting procedures. Most people are approved to resume normal day-to-day as soon as they leave the Quintessa office. In some cases, some minor inflammation and soreness may occur where treated, but subsides quickly. There are very few instances of long-term side-effects and patients can expect to see results in 2-3 weeks.

CoolSculpting is noninvasive so you won't have to undergo surgery. There are no cuts or anesthetics, so it is considered very safe and not as risky as liposuction. Both procedures have also been tested and approved by the FDA.

That being said, if you have cryoglobulinemia, cold agglutinin disease, or paroxysmal cold hemoglobulinuria then CoolSculpting would not be recommended for you.
