The Chin Implant Procedure
The chin augmentation procedure can easily be done in office if it is a stand alone procedure. A chin implant includes placing a prosthetic implant over the chin bone (mandible). The implant is placed through an incision under the chin or under the lower teeth inside the mouth. If the teeth do not fit together properly, orthognathic surgery can sometimes be performed to improve occlusion as well as chin appearance.

Chin Augmentation Recovery and Results
Recovery following a chin implant at Quintessa is usually mild. The stitches come out in about a week and the scar is virtually invisible. Slight swelling can last several weeks to several months and make the area look slightly over-augmented, but this is seldom significant and patients are usually back to work in less than one week.
The stronger chin and profile that is created by chin augmentation is visible immediately. However, due to some swelling, final results may not be visible for several months. The results of this procedure will last a lifetime.
