Juvederm is a smooth dermal filler gel made of hyaluronic acid, which your body naturally produces. The results from Juvederm can be seen immediately. There may be some mild side effects such as redness, swelling, pain/tenderness, firmness, lumps/bumps and bruising. However, these side effects should recede within a few hours. Juvederm is the only Federal Drug Administration (FDA) dermal filler approved to last up to a year.

As with any procedure, you should stop any medication or supplements that are not essential for 10-14 days prior to decrease your risk of bleeding. Always check with your Doctor prior to stopping any prescribed medications.
Browlift recovery typically involves a pressure dressing that is removed the day after surgery. You can shower that day and pat dry your hair. The brows may look a little overcorrected at this early stage but will settle as the swelling resolves. You will most likely have numbness in the middle of the forehead, sometimes the numbness will go all the way back to the crown of the head. Numbness slowly resolves over months.
There is not much planning necessary for a browlift recovery. Just be very careful combing your hair so you avoid trauma to the incisions. Depending on bruising, you may look quite good in less than a week. If you have bruising around the eyes, this will slowly resolve. You can wear makeup on anything that isn’t a suture, so many will cover bruising and start going back to normal activities.
NON-SURGICAL SOLUTIONS
Typically, injections of Juvéderm do not cause any visible bruising. However, there may be a 10 percent or up to a 20 percent chance that bruising will occur with this type of injection and we do caution patients of this fact ahead of time. If bruising does occur, you should allow at least a few days for it to subside.
Otherwise, cover makeup can be applied immediately after the injection to hide any sort of redness or early bruising. Cold compresses before and after the procedure help as well.

For patients who have had Juvederm lip fillers, we recommend following our Juvederm care instructions after their lip injection:
– Apply ice continuously for the first 45 minutes after the injection.
– Ice the lips on and off for an additional hour or so.
– Keep the head elevated for the first night to prevent any additional swelling.
– If early bruising occurs, we recommend applying Arnica Montana to reduce visible bruising.
Hyaluronic acid fillers such as Juvederm and Restylane are usually injected with needles varying in size from a 30-gauge up to a 27-gauge needle. Certainly, if you are concerned about bruising, the injector can use various techniques to try to minimize any bruising such as using the smaller needle as well as a very slow injection technique, as it seems that the slower the injection, the less likely you are to bruise. Due to the fact that Radiesse is calcium-based and relatively thick, it tends to create irregularities in the lips and will often migrate and become visible just below the mucosa. Juvéderm, on the other hand, is very smooth. It’s softer. It’s more gel-like.
