Our team will guide you through each step of the process, boosting your confidence and making sure that you are comfortable with your decision.
Breast implants are not always the right choice. We would never pressure a patient to undergo cosmetic breast surgery if we weren’t sure that they were making a good choice. Most women who choose breast implants are satisfied with the outcome.
In fact, a study found that 98% of women who underwent breast augmentation found that the results met or exceeded their expectations. 92% of the same women reported that they experienced improved self-esteem. 64% said that it improved their quality of life.

How Safe are Breast Implants?
Thanks to incredible advancements in implant technology, breast augmentation surgery is safer than ever before. Leakage incidents and other complications are now very rare.
The risk of surgical complications has decreased, and women can now go into their surgeries with peace of mind. The FDA regulates breast implants, and practices like ours promote comprehensive patient education to ensure that you can prep for surgery and heal without incident after your treatment.
Know Your Options: Different Types of Breast Augmentation Surgeries
Every patient is unique, and you can rest assured that the providers at Quintessa will always give you the individualized care you need.
Because breast augmentation is done for many different reasons, and because every woman’s body is unique, there are a few different kinds of surgery. You may opt for a standard augmentation or a combination approach to address your specific needs and goals.
These are the combination procedures that Quintessa provides:
Breast Lift
This popular procedure revives your breasts’ natural elevation, contour, and symmetry. Patients often report that they feel rejuvenated after their procedure. They also report:
- A new sense of self-confidence
- Clothing feeling more comfortable
- Better satisfaction with their physical appearance
- Improved body positivity
Breast Augmentation with Lift
If you want your treatment to address sagging breasts or nipple placement, a breast augmentation combined with a breast lift is a great option. By performing both procedures at the same time, you will see a bigger difference in a shorter amount of time. You also reduce your total recovery time by undergoing both treatments at the same time.
Breast Augmentation with Fat
This method of breast augmentation also involves a liposuction procedure. Your surgeon will remove fat from one part of the body, such as the belly, thighs, back, or flanks, and inject it into your breasts. By using your body’s natural fat, the procedure has the potential to offer a more natural aesthetic.
Fat transfer is best for patients who want to experience a modest increase in breast size.
Mommy Makeover Surgery
Recovering physically from pregnancy is incredibly difficult. You can rediscover your body after pregnancy with the complete rejuvenation process called a Mommy Makeover.
The Mommy Makeover was originally designed to provide breast augmentation and a tummy tuck, but today’s procedures are much more comprehensive. Think of this procedure as a full-body revival. At Quintessa, we incorporate 360 circumferential liposuction and a tailored lift of the buttocks.

Breast Implants: What Are My Options?
Depending on what your desired result is, you’ll have a few different options for your breast augmentation implants. Your surgeon and the qualified staff at Quintessa can explain which are better for the look you want to achieve. Here’s a look at the most typical breast implants available.
Saline Implants
Saline implants are filled with sterile salt water. In the unlikely event of a rupture, saline implants are designed to be safely absorbed by the body.
Structured Saline Implants
These are similar to saline implants, as they are filled with the same safe, absorbable liquid. The difference is that the interior structure of these implants mimics a more natural feel.
Silicone Implants
These implants are comprised of silicone gel, and they offer the softest touch.
Form-stable (“Gummy Bear”) Implants
These implants are known for retaining their shape, even if the shell breaks. Because they are made from thicker silicone gel, they are firmer to the touch.
Round Implants
Round implants are preferred for the creation of a fuller appearance. They maintain their look, even if they rotate after placement.
Smooth Implants
Smooth implants offer the softest touch, and they are known for their smooth, natural-looking movement.
Textured Implants
These limit movement within the breast by bonding with scar tissue. This keeps them in place.
Where are Breast Implants Placed? Above or Below the Muscle?
Breast implants can be placed above or below the muscle, depending on your needs and your surgeon’s recommendation.
The two common incision site locations are peri-areolar and inframammary fold. Regardless of which incision is used, the implants can be placed above or below the muscle.
A board-certified plastic surgeon in our Brookfield, WI location can walk you through your options. Your surgeon will make sure that you understand:
- Your procedure options
- Advantages and disadvantages of each procedure
- Potential risks associated with surgery
- FDA guidelines for each procedure and implant style
Our goal is to make sure that your aesthetic goals align with your health outcomes and safety considerations.

Recovery and Aftercare: What To Expect and What To Do
It is imperative that you take care of yourself after your surgery.
You will likely need prescription pain medication for 1-3 days, then over-the-counter pain meds for another 1-3 days. Some patients find that they don’t need pain medicine at all after they leave our Brookfield location!
You may expect to feel:
- Some discomfort
- Tightness or swelling around the breast area
- Moderate bruising
- Sensitivity to the touch
Most patients report that these negative side effects go away within a week. Some patients experience hypersensitivity or numbness that should improve with time.
When you return home from surgery, you will be wearing a post-surgery bra. Please keep this on for 24 hours. Then, for the following 1-2 weeks, use a gentle compression bra without an underwire.
Avoid vigorous exercise for at least 2 weeks. Additionally, you will need stronger support than usual for the first 3 months whenever you are doing strenuous physical activity.
These are the compression bras that we recommend you wear for the first few weeks.
Average recovery time is 5-7 days.
Possible Risks
While breast augmentation surgery can yield beautiful results, it’s essential to be informed of potential risks and complications. These can include bleeding, adverse reactions to anesthesia, scarring, and changes in nipple or breast sensation. Capsular contracture, a condition where scar tissue forms around the implant and tightens, may occur. Implants may also rupture or leak, leading to additional surgery. In rare cases, asymmetry, wrinkling, or rippling of the breasts may develop.
To minimize these risks, it’s crucial to choose a qualified and experienced plastic surgeon that you trust, follow post-operative care instructions diligently, and communicate openly about any concerns throughout the process.
At Quintessa, it is rare to see the above risks in our patients. Dr. Butz’s education, training, and experience have taught him well to minimize these risks and produce beautiful results.

Breast Augmentation FAQs
If you start to experience swelling, you should rest, ice, and keep your breasts elevated. Using two or three pillows the first couple of nights after surgery can help relieve swelling in the upper breast. For more advice, read our blog, 7 Breast Augmentation Recovery Tips.
Deciding to undergo breast augmentation (aka a boob job!) is a highly personal choice that depends on individual goals, expectations, and circumstances. Many find it worthwhile for boosting confidence, enhancing body image, or restoring breast volume lost to aging, weight changes, or pregnancy. It’s essential to consider your reasons, consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon to understand potential outcomes and risks, and reflect on how it aligns with your personal and health objectives.
The cost of breast implants can vary depending on your needs, but typically they cost anywhere from $9,000 to $10,000 on average. However, we highly recommend coming in to see our licensed expert medical providers to learn about your options and exactly how much a breast augmentation will cost for your unique procedure.
No, intense pulsed light treatments on the skin should not be able to damage silicone breast implants. That being said, there are risks if the implant is directly under the skin (like those who have had a complete mastectomy with silicone implant reconstruction, with extraordinarily thin subcutaneous fat volume).
Breast augmentation or breast implants are the most requested procedure, but there are many types to choose from based on your desired aesthetic goals. Each surgery offers a different kind of solution for a woman who wants to achieve her ideal look — but all procedures have natural-looking outcomes.
Yes! This may sound surprising, but the most common cosmetic surgery is performed on our breasts. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons recently published a report showing more than 310,000 women and teenagers in the United States underwent surgery to have their breasts enlarged with silicone or saline implants. It’s been the number one procedure since 2006.
