The Breast Augmentation Procedure
The first step to a breast augmentation is meeting with our board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Maida Parkins. Dr. Parkins invests the time to educate her patients and discuss goals to achieve their desired look. She will happily answer all of the patient’s questions about the procedure. She will also help guide them to finding the perfect breast implants by asking questions, taking photos and having the patient try on different implant sizes.
During the procedure, Dr. Parkins often uses a inframammary fold incision (incision along the lower part of the breast). The incision is 1.75 inches long and hides in the natural fold. She also uses a breast implant sizer during surgery to make sure the results are as close to the patient’s goals as possible.
Breast Augmentation Recovery
After the procedure, most patients will take pain medicine for 1-2 days and then switch to an over the counter pain reliever. However, some patients don’t take pain medicine at all. Most patients state that there is just a feeling of tightness or swelling in the area that is uncomfortable for the first day or so but not actually painful. Most patients can then return to their everyday lives in as little to 3-4 days after surgery.
