So many men and women feel self-conscious because of their jawline, sagging chin, or double-chin. The shape of our faces, and how we picture ourselves at our best, is so connected to the strength of our jawline and length of our neck-line.
Kybella is a prescription medicine used in adults to improve the appearance and profile of moderate to severe fat below the chin (submental fat), also called “double chin.” When injected into the fat beneath your chin, Kybella causes the destruction of fat cells.
At Quintessa Aesthetic Center, only a licensed and trained medical professional performs Kybella treatments or fillers and injectables procedures. As one of Wisconsin’s most trusted medical spas and aesthetic centers, we guarantee professionalism and confidence-boosting results.
What is Kybella®?
Kybella is a prescription medicine used in adults to improve the appearance and profile of moderate to severe fat below the chin (submental fat), also called “double chin.” It is not known if Kybella is safe and effective for use outside of the submental area.
The active ingredient in Kybella® is deoxycholic acid, a naturally-occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the fat beneath your chin, Kybella causes the destruction of fat cells. Once destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat.
Before & After
* Each patient is unique and individual results may vary.
How many Treatments will I need?
A Quintessa licensed provider will customize your Kybella treatment regimen, including how many treatments you need, based on your desired chin profile. Many patients experience visible results in 2 to 4 treatment sessions. During these sessions, your provider will administer Kybella into the fat under your chin using multiple injections. Up to 6 treatment sessions may be administered spaced no less than one month apart.
What can I expect during my Kybella Appointment?
At the beginning of your appointment, your health care provider will clean the chin and neck area, then apply a temporary grid or markup to the area to guide evenly dispersed injections. The appointment will take between 15 minutes to a half-hour and topical anesthetic is usually not necessary. The size and shape of the grid, and the number of injections, depend on the fullness of your chin fullness.
You may experience some swelling and soreness at the injection site, but you can return to normal activity — except rigorous exercise — the same day. Exercise can be resumed 24-48 hours afterward and any discomfort can be calmed using a cold compress or ice pack.
