Before your procedure, you may be advised to stop taking blood thinners and other medications. Smokers should avoid smoking in the weeks before and after their surgery. The lip lift surgery requires local anesthesia and is performed at our outpatient surgical center in Delafield. You can expect the surgery to take between 1-2 hours. If you schedule additional procedures, we will help you anticipate the time frame before your surgery day.
You should expect some bruising, discomfort, numbness, and swelling after your lip lift surgery. Because the surgery affects the lymphatic system in the face, you may experience more swelling with this surgery than others. Some sensitivity and soreness may exist for several weeks. It is important to try to avoid dramatic facial expressions and mouth movements for the first 7-10 days. This may include talking and laughing.
