Question: I am only 19, but I have a large amount of minor acne scarring on my cheeks and forehead. I read somewhere that Juvéderm can improve the appearance of acne scars. Is this true for only mild acne scarring?
Answer: Juvéderm can be used to fill virtually any sort of depression in the soft tissue of the face and that would be including acne scarring. I will mention that many times it can only improve it to a certain degree and cannot completely fill in the defect. Ultimately I would recommend an evaluation by a very experienced injector, so that all of your treatment options can be discussed as in my personal experience, I have not felt the fillers to be as efficacious with acne scarring as I would like. I tend to therefore recommend to patients that they consider a ProFractional laser resurfacing to improve the appearance of acne scarring as this is a permanent improvement and can be quite dramatic.
