Question: I would like to a treatment for my face, mostly to reduce the fine wrinkles but I also have several age spots that I would like removed. I am interested in a laser treatment. Is this the recommended treatment over a chemical peel for what I have in mind?
Answer: An ablative laser treatment such as an erbium laser resurfacing would certainly be a good option for someone who is interested in improving wrinkles as well as getting rid of various pigmented lesions and age spots. This laser vaporizes the superficial layers of the skin and this then requires a healing time of anywhere from 1 to 7 days depending on how deep the laser peel is performed. The deeper the peel, the more impressive the results, but also the longer healing period. There are other non-ablative, no downtime techniques and devices that we have at Quintessa Medical Spa, but these would typically not show any significant amount of wrinkle reduction.
