Question: I am a 34-year-old female and I am thinking about getting laser hair treatments for my legs. I am a little apprehensive about how long the treatment will take however. Will each hair be removed individually or will a whole patch be treated at once?
Answer: Laser hair removal treats multiple hairs at once, but depending on the laser, this area can be rather small such as a one x one centimeter or much bigger, in fact over ten times the size with some of the more advanced laser treatments. Obviously the larger treatment area allows for a faster treatment. At Quintessa Medical Spa, we have the Lumenis Duet System, which essentially has six separate diode laser heads all linked together in combination with a suction apparatus that allows us to perform full leg laser hair removal or full back treatments in about one-third of the time that it used to take. It is also far less uncomfortable than prior laser treatment modalities and yet it is just as efficacious if not even more efficacious for actual hair removal.
