Question: I have scheduled my first appointment for laser hair removal. When is the last time I can shave before my appointment?
Answer: We typically recommend that you do not shave the day of the appointment, mainly so that you do not have any redness or abrasion of the skin but you can shave up to that point. You cannot, however, wax or pluck any of the hairs for at least a month or even longer prior to laser hair removal treatments. Due to the fact that these procedures are performed in a series of six to eight treatments, you really cannot wax or tweeze any of the hairs during this entire time period, and patients who historically have waxed will have to essentially shave those areas so that the hair follicle still has a hair shaft in it when we are trying to treat this with the hair removal laser.
