Question: With laser hair removal do you treat 1 hair follicle at a time like with electrolysis? How long would it take to remove fine hair from my upper lip? I am female and 52 years old.
Answer: No, laser hair removal is not performed 1 hair at a time but is performed by using the laserhead which comes in a variety of different sizes. Some are as small as 1 x1 cm and others even smaller, whereas the Vasculight Duette that we have at Quintessa Medical Spa can treat large areas like backs and legs with a full 6 square cm head, greatly reducing the discomfort and time that it takes to treat these large areas. If you are interested in an upper lip treatment we would use the smaller laserhead and make several passes across this area. The treatment only takes 10 minutes or so but you do have to repeat this multiple times since the only hair that is susceptible to laser hair removal is the hair that is in the growth phase and only a small percentage of our hair is in that phase at one time. We therefore perform multiple treatments based about a month to 6 weeks apart in order to provide the very significant reduction in hair that we desire.
