Question: Are laser treatments really affective alternatives to facelift surgery for tightening the skin?
Answer: Laser treatments can be very affective at wrinkle reduction and skin tightening but they really do very little if anything for actual soft tissue laxity of the face and I feel that laser treatments are very affective for skin rejuvenation whereas facelifts are extremely affective at rejuvenation of facial laxity. Essentially there are 3 major aspects with facial aging. One being facial laxity, the second being volume loss, and the third being changes to the skin. Lasers can do a wonderful job with rejuvenation of the skin and facelifts can do a wonderful job with the laxity and fat grafting, fillers, or implants can do a wonderful job for volumetric rejuvenation.
