Can a chemical peel enhance the absorption of bleaching creams?

Yes, any sort of peel on the skin can enhance the absorption of skin care products including bleaching creams. Oftentimes we will perform either a light chemical peel, a microdermabrasion or more commonly micro laser peel to help patients absorb their skin care products more readily and make them become more effective. This in turn then improved their appearance in a more timely fashion and instead of waiting months for results, results can frequently be seen within a matter of weeks. The reason we really prefer the micro laser peel at Quintessa Medical Spa is due to the fact that the laser resurfacing procedure places some heat into the dermal layer of the skin, which creates some new collagen growth and some subtle skin tightening and wrinkle reduction. Neither chemical peels nor microdermabrasion will provide this added effect. The only downside is there is a slight amount of downtime for a day or two with this technique, but most patients are very tolerant of this due to the improved effect that it has on their overall appearance.
