Question: Does dermabrasion produce somewhat similar results as a chemical peel?

Answer: Well dermabrasion can produce somewhat similar results to certain chemical peels but in essence it really depends on how deep the dermabrasion is and how deep the chemical peel is that would determine whether the results would be similar.  Very superficial dermabrasions such as microdermabrasion would be similar to a very superficial chemical peel.  Very deep dermabrasion would be very similar to a very deep chemical peel.  Ultimately these are just 2 different modalities to achieve the same goal.  One being performed as a mechanical abrasion of the skin while the other one is using chemicals to cause cleavage of the skin at a determined depth.  Ultimately what is the most important issue is the person performing the actual treatment since you would like someone with extensive experience in whatever modality they feel is best for your particular skin issues.
