Question: I am excited about my upcoming Juvéderm injections to get rid of those pesky parentheses around my mouth. Will I have a numbing agent administered to decrease the pain of the Juvéderm injection?
Answer: That really depends on the person that is injecting. In my personal experience, with the new Juvéderm XC that has lidocaine in it, all I need to do is freeze the skin overlying the area where we start the injection and once we have started the injection, we can continue the injections rather painlessly due to the fact that the lidocaine does numb the area as we continue, so all in all patients have a very comfortable experience when they do get Juvéderm injected into the parentheses lines around the mouth.
